14. January 2008 EDU meeting in Bolzano

New EDU leadership elected

At the beginning of the new year, new leadership of the European Dart Union (EDU) was elected.
The meeting was held on Saturday, January 5th, in Hotel Sheraton Four Points in Bolzano, with the following members being present: Karl Plank, Dr. Alexander von Egen, Roger Volken, Rainer Eder, Robert Nisbet, Darko Plazek, Mate Vukoja, Rafael Garcia, Irene Garcia, Norbert Salzgeber, Edith Hrdlicka, Radek Hrdlicka, Sigi Vorderegger, Günther Kasal, Branko Subic, Sig. Carmelo.

At the beginning of the meeting Karl Plank welcomed all those present and thanked them for attending. The meeting was held on the occasion of the Italian Darts Championship that was held that weekend in Bolzano/South Tyrol. The tournament gathered cca 4.600 players from all over Italy and it was played on 308 Cyberdine dart machines.
The occasion was used to present a new EDU Board of Directors in front of the press and local TV.
As it is known, the "old EDU" was converted into the IDF (International Dart Federation) at a meeting held on June 8th 2007 in Prague, during the EDU European Championship. So, new organisation was created now in Italy with new statues.

Before the election of the new EDU Board of Directors began, it was announced that DSAB, largest darts association in Germany with more than 60.000 players, joined EDU. With this in effect, EDU is now without any doubt the largest electronic darts organisation in Europe with membership of cca 200.000 players from 24 different countries.
In presence of the president of the IDF Dr. Alexander von Egen, the vice-president Robert Nisbet and other honorable guests, nine members of the board from eight different countries were appointed. They are:

  • Karl Plank, President (Italy)
  • Stefan Reichert, Vicepresident (Germany)
  • Roger Volken, Secretary (Switzerland)
  • Radek Hrdlicka (Czech)
  • Rainer Eder (Austria)
  • Günther Kasal (Italy)
  • Darko Plazek (Croatia)
  • Christian Ramm (France)
  • Rafael Garcia (Spain)

Four previous and five new members of the Board of Directors will perform the business of the EDU in the next four years, with headquarters in Switzerland (Brig).
